REPORTS TO: Therapy Supervisor
POSITION SUMMARY:
This may be a salaried or “fee for service” position that provides initial assessments to individuals in emergency room settings. S/he gathers appropriate information on the ER patients and contacts the clinical Administrator On-Call and or Psychiatrist for further instruction/disposition.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Responsibilities (under supervision)
- To be fully acquainted with and follow all policies and procedures related to his/her position.
- Provides assessment to potential patients of Harmony Healthcare
- Determines diagnosis of clients following assessment.
- Available during all hours to emergency room staff within 3 hours of the initial request.
- Provides documentation of initial assessment and clinician/physician disposition.
- Completes all documentation according to the policies and procedures for the Medical Records Department, as well as State and JCAHO standards.
- Writes a detailed, legible and accurate report on each assessment.
- Sends copies of any required written assessments into the patient’s hospital chart.
- Communicated with the ER staff the final recommendation for the patient.
- Assists in the transaction of patient to psychiatric facility, or alternative placement if indicated.
- Assures that all documentation for his/her potential clients is complete and maintained in proper order.
- Participates in maintaining a cooperative and pleasant working atmosphere.
- Maintains a professional and cooperative working relationship with all the professional staff.
- Works to cooperatively and respectfully with all the support staff.
- Attends all monthly agency “All Staff” meetings and clinical meetings.
- Continues with professional education and development.
- Attains all continuing education credits (CEUs) required by the licensing board of his/her discipline.
- Participates in weekly supervision with a Clinical Supervisor.
- If required, will meet with an on-site supervisor bi-monthly.
- Participates in monthly supervision with the Clinical Director.
- Presents cases for staff review when asked by the Clinical Director.
- Attends all-service meetings at Harmony Healthcare.
- Is open to feedback related to professional performance.
MINIMUM JOB REQUIREMENTS:
Education:
Master’s degree or PH D in counseling, social work, marriage and family therapy or psychology.
Experience:
Qualified for credentialing by the insurance companies covering the contracted entities.
Specific Skills:
- Is of sound moral character.
- Possesses no mental or physical impairments that would prohibit his/her ability to function in the position described.
- Is not impaired by any chemical dependency/substance abuse problems.
Specialized Knowledge, Licenses, etc:
State licensure as a Clinical Psychologist, Marriage and Family Therapist, or Licensed Clinical Social Worker including interns directly supervised.
Has current professional liability insurance with minimum coverage limits of $1,000,000.00 per single incident/$3,000,000.00 in the aggregate, which covers Harmony Healthcare for any and all damages or liabilities.
